2024, a great vintage for the mushroom harvest in Corsica

Rainy September, mushrooms happy. Always on a tightrope when it comes to the question of water, Corsica was not left out last month. On average, some areas were 25 to 30% more watered than usual. And even if there are disparities on the island territorythese conditions remain favorable for fall harvests. In recent years, the picking mushrooms began in October, several weeks late, as the humidity had been driven out of the forests and meadows. So much so that in August, the soils of Haute-Corse had not been so dry since 1950.

“It will be a very good year”

The back-to-school rains were therefore welcomed with blessing by mushroom enthusiasts. “Cit will be a very good year“, assures Jean Alesandri, member of the mycological society for more than fifty years. “All indicators are green” continues the septuagenarian, “It’s not cold, the soils have received a lot of water, the air is humid, we can already produce good harvests. The species are varied.
