XA Network, an influential investment network founded by former Google executives in Southeast Asia, has announced its expansion into Africa with the launch of XA Africa. This initiative marks a crucial step for the network, aiming to encourage innovation and support promising startups from the African continent

A team of experts to lead XA Africa

XA Africa was founded by three seasoned tech industry leaders: Nitin Gajria, former Managing Director of Google Sub-Saharan Africa; Jason Scott, venture capitalist and architect of the Black Founders Fund at Google; and Marek Dawidowicz, Marketing Director of YouTube, originally from South Africa. Their combined expertise and in-depth knowledge of African and global markets will allow them to support African startups in their growth and digital transformation.

A model beyond financial investment

Unlike other investment networks, XA Africa’s approach is not limited to financial support. The network also provides mentoring, strategic advice and operational support, drawing on an extensive global network of technology leaders. This practical support aims to help startups overcome the challenges linked to the African market, while maximizing economic opportunities on the continent.

A bridge between Africa and Southeast Asia

XA Network, already well established in Southeast Asia with nearly 100 investments in startups over the past six years, sees this African expansion as an opportunity to strengthen ties between the technology ecosystems of Africa and Asia. “ Startup founders in Africa are uniquely positioned to solve some of the continent’s most pressing challenges while unlocking its greatest opportunities“, said Nitin Gajria. He sees the launch of XA Africa as a natural evolution to connect African entrepreneurs to a global network of operators and experts.

XA Africa has already started to invest in African startups, with notable participations in the Nigerian Startup Agritech Crop2Cash, the Kenyan Mobility Platform Buupass, the South African startup of Edtech Kaya, and the Ghanaian company of health technology talamus Health. These investments confirm the network’s commitment to supporting innovative technological solutions that meet the specific needs of the African market.

Next meeting: the XA Africa Demo Day

On November 7, 2024, XA Africa will host its first public Demo Day, a webinar during which four African startups will be presented to an audience of investors interested in the African market. This event will be a unique opportunity for investors to discover investment opportunities and form partnerships with visionary entrepreneurs.

In short, with XA Network’s expansion into Africa, the network hopes to not only drive technological innovation on the continent, but also create synergies between Africa and Southeast Asia, thereby strengthening startup ecosystems. of the two regions.
