A small urban electric SUV for €25,000? It’s possible with the Hyundai Inster!

Hyundai reveals the prices of its small electric crossover Inster, which starts at an aggressive price of €25,000. But he will not be eligible for the bonus. However, it should find its audience.

He was obviously expected around the corner. One of the few accessible urban electric crossovers of the moment is finally available to order in the Hyundai France network. Unveiled during the summer in Korea and produced exclusively in its native lands, the Inster will not be entitled to the bonus here. But is this really a problem for this small, very accessible model which will come to hunt in the lands of the Renault 5 or the Citroën e-C3 with its original look and average autonomy for this emerging category? Not really. The Inster indeed reveals its prices and with an entry ticket at €25,000 all round, it is already in the game to at least overshadow the electric C3. The Renault 5 is still apart for the moment.

Up to 370 km of autonomy

The final approval data being known, the Inster is therefore announced to have a range of 370 km thanks to its 49 kWh battery. A cheaper variant (the one starting at €25,000) shows 327 km with a slightly smaller pack, containing 44 kWh of net energy. Each battery is associated with a motor of different power: 97 hp for the small battery, 115 hp for the large one. In both cases, only the engine speed changes since the torque is strictly identical, at 147 Nm. Finally, let us point out that performance should be quite sufficient for daily use since the slower of the two versions goes from 100 km/h in 11.7 seconds. And, it’s rare enough to underline it, here is an electric that is not an anvil: barely 1380 kg for the small battery variant. Of course, the Inster only measures 3.82 meters long, but that’s not very common to point out…

The first “Inster” finishing level includes 15-inch wheel covers, 11 kW charger (interesting value for this segment), rear parking sensors, reversing camera, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, 10.25-inch digital instrumentation or even CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity. In short, a list of equipment that is entirely suitable for this price level in electrics.
