When the misfortune of some makes the happiness of others: after the ban on El Mordjene spread, another brand enjoys incredible success

The El Mordjene spread, which has been a hit for several weeks, is now banned in Europe

The problem is that El Mordjene is an Algerian brand and produced in Algeria, and that this country is prohibited from exporting dairy products and derivatives to Europe. This is where the buzz went viral, with a protest from fans of this product, which did not prevent the European Union from banning the sale of this product in mid-September.

A decision that will not change, and now those who have barely had the chance to taste El Mordjene will have to find alternatives. And a hitherto unknown brand is facing success as crazy as it is unexpected. This time it is towards that we must turn, with the small company which produces the Crema Bueno spread.

Behind this brand, we find two young 27-year-old artisans, who created Crema Bueno a year ago. “We work with pastry chefs, restaurateurs, crepe makers… Originally, it was for them that we created this Crema Bueno, about a year ago“, they tell our colleagues from Le Parisien.

And it was therefore following the ban on El Mordjene that mass distribution turned to them. “We started to be contacted by hyperstore managers. They wanted to know if we could offer jars for individuals since our product had, according to them, similar characteristics and taste to that from Algeria.“, says Alexandre Cousin.

In total, 150,000 pots have already been ordered in recent weeks, and the company will have to hire more to cope with this success which comes out of nowhere. But when you work well, you always end up being rewarded, right?
