The France Identity application is enriched. After the dematerialized identity card and driving license, the Vitale card will soon be added to its list. The initiative is part of the major global digitalization project dreamed of by Europe and France by 2035, but it mainly aims to avoid fraud. According to a report from the High Council for the Financing of Social Protection (HCFiPS), health insurance fraud represents 1.7 billion euros each year in the country. A shortfall which, for the vast majority of cases, is not attributable to the insured, but to healthcare professionals.
In continuation of its project to fight against “social fraud“, the new Prime Minister Michel Barnier detailed his action plan, during an interview with The Tribune. Unsurprisingly, and rather than attacking health professionals, it is the users who are targeted. Thus, the politician announced the securing of the Vitale card, which will now be “backed by digital identity cards“. This dematerialization will be carried out via the France Identity platform, which already houses the digital versions of the identity card and driving license. On paper, this is not bad news.
How to obtain your dematerialized Vitale card?
For several months, the digital Vitale card has already been accessible via the ApCV application in 23 departments. For the 400,000 participating testers, however, it was necessary to download the dedicated application. This new project to unify official documents promises to facilitate procedures, by centralizing all your identity documents on a single platform. Enough to promise widespread deployment by the end of first quarter 2025.
