Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Tuesday stressed the importance of strengthening the consistency of macroeconomic policy direction and creating great synergy, so as to promote high-quality development.
Li made the remarks during a study session organized by the State Council.
Noting that macroeconomic governance is more complex today, Li said efforts should be made to optimize the combination of policy resources and tools with systematic thinking and measures, to improve policy effectiveness.

Policy objectives should be confirmed after taking into account the overall needs of economic and social development, Li said.
As the economy faces relatively strong downward pressures, policies conducive to stabilizing growth and expectations should be deployed more proactively, and restrictive and inhibiting measures should be introduced cautiously, he said. -he continued.
Policy evaluation needs to be further refined, Li said, adding that standards should be set judiciously.
According to him, non-economic policies should be included in the evaluation of the consistency of macroeconomic policies, and the effect of new policies should be evaluated in aspects such as economic development, stabilization of expectations, employment and living conditions of the people.
Huang Hanquan, director of the Chinese Academy of Macroeconomic Research, gave a lecture at the session. Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing and State Councilor Wang Xiaohong participated in the discussions.
