Gharb Papier et Carton announces an investment of 180 million dirhams in a new production unit in Meknes

GPC-Gharb Papier et Carton, a subsidiary of Ynna and a key player in the packaging sector in Morocco, announces a major investment with the creation of its 8th production unit located in the Agropolis industrial zone in Meknes.

This new investment of 180 million dirhams will strengthen GPC’s positioning as a national leader in the paper and corrugated cardboard industry, the company indicates in a press release.

This unit, which will be at the cutting edge of technology with 7-color high graphic printing machines, a new feature in Morocco, will be dedicated to the processing of paper and corrugated cardboard, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons of cardboard. corrugated and 10,000 tonnes of transformed paper (cores, corners, Kraft bobbins, newsprint and cut Manilla), specifies the press release.

It will be strategically oriented to meet the growing needs of the agricultural sectors, notably Rosacés, industrial (textiles, clothing, agri-food) as well as the automotive sector, in the Fez-Meknes region and in the Oriental region ( Oujda, Nador).

“This investment marks an important step in our growth and development strategy on the sidelines of our 32nd anniversary,” said the general director of GPC, Mounir El Bari, quoted in the press release.

“The launch of this 8th unit reaffirms the commitment of GPC–Papier et carton and Ynna to promote Made in Morocco in line with the national industrial sovereignty strategy while actively contributing to the economic transformation of the regions we serve,” said -he continued.

“We are proud to contribute to the emergence of a strong and sustainable Moroccan industry with a “green” unit which will ensure self-production of energy through solar, more than 40% of its total consumption and which will serve key sectors of our economy”, welcomed the CEO of GPC. The project will also generate more than 100 jobs, thus strengthening local economic development.

And to emphasize that this new factory will be a major asset to support the development of the Fès-Meknes region and support its growing industry.
