Tesla, again, forced to recall 27,000 units of its Cybertrucks

Earlier in the year, there had already been talk of a fault that was dangerous to say the least on this model: the accelerator pedal could come loose and get stuck, producing unexpected and therefore uncontrolled acceleration. No less than 4,000 vehicles were affected. Today, it is the delay in activating the rear camera that is the problem. According to American law on the issue, the maximum delay for the camera to display when shifting into reverse is two seconds. Currently this can take 6-8 seconds! Delay long enough to annoy users and thus create an increased risk of collision.

OTA update

This concerns vehicles produced between November 13, 2023 and September 14, 2024. Tesla personally informed the American authorities after receiving 45 complaints on this subject. However, an update has already been scheduled, and the problem should therefore be resolved quickly. Unlike the anomaly spotted on the accelerator, this should be able to be done remotely via a system update. As a reminder, in July, another campaign also had to be issued due to a malfunction in the Autopilot, creating dangerous driving conditions. While the brand had planned to produce 2 million of its pickup for the first quarter of 2024, only 430,000 units left the factories, and 380,000 delivered. A difficult year for the American manufacturer, already forced to lay off 10% of its workforce earlier in the year.
