Aggressive door-to-door sales that anger dozens of Ajoulots

An elderly lady, living in Haute-Ajoie, received an invoice for a telephone and internet subscription that she never signed. On the contract, a false date of birth and a false passport number. Supported by her children, she filed a complaint for identity theft, which the cantonal police confirmed to us. The case is isolated, indicates the latter, which has not recorded any other complaints. The file is in the hands of the Jura Public Prosecutor’s Office.

However, cases of sales using aggressive methods in Ajoie, which would be the work of employees of the same company, based in Porrentruy, have been reported to us. Sellers get their foot in the door and only come out when a contract is signed, explains the daughter of the scammed person, who heard of this type of practice from those around her.
Money is even collected at home, she explains, and canceling a subscription is an obstacle course.
Partner of the operator Salt, the Technoware store in Porrentruy has received dozens of complaints from dissatisfied customers since December 2023, although these forced sales are not the fault of the brand. “I don’t do canvassing,” explains its director Bryan Gogniat. “People come to us or write to us, even outside the canton, to complain about forced sales.”
