Out of stock: The world is snapping up this chocolate from Dubai

Videos featuring a chocolate bar filled with green cream are multiplying on TikTok. Their common point: they present a chocolate filled with pistachio cream and a kind of vermicelli. This treat comes from Dubai.

Its appearance fascinates the whole world. Its milk chocolate coating reveals an unexpectedly crunchy cream, obtained thanks to kataifi, a dessert made of grilled vermicelli, used in particular for desserts in the Middle East such as knafeh.

This creation is the work of Sarah Hamouda, founder of the Dubai chocolate factory Fix Dessert Chocolatier. The inspiration came from her pregnancy cravings for pistachio cream, chocolate and knafeh. Dubai chocolate has enjoyed meteoric success since food influencer Maria Vehera tasted it in a video on TikTok, which has been viewed more than 50 million times.

Fix Dessert Chocolatier is overwhelmed with requests. Asked by CNNSarah Hamouda describes this craze for the brand as “surreal”. Daily orders increased to 500 per day. The whole world wants to taste this specialty.

The melting texture at its heart is due to tahini (sesame cream), which, according to reports, gives the chocolate a slight nutty note. Amateur chocolatiers who try their hand at making a homemade confection often use a layer of milk chocolate coating so thick that the bar seems almost impossible to bite into. This is particularly the case of the New York brand The Nuts Factory.

“I wasn’t expecting all that crunch,” writes the content creator of the “Stay Hungry NYC” account (post above), after tasting their variation made with imported ingredients and Belgian chocolate. The pistachio cream helps hold the kataifi in place. The company sells more than 1,000 tablets daily, the sale of which is limited to one per person.

Priced at around twenty euros on Etsy, the “Fix tablet” is even sold for up to 30 euros on certain sites.

In Germany and Austria, Dubai chocolate is already commercially available. The Rewe trade cooperative now includes pistachio cream chocolate bars from various suppliers in the assortment of some of its subsidiaries. Furthermore, on social networks, amateur chocolatiers publish recipes to make yourself.
