Hydrocarbons: the Cogo company will invest 90 billion FCFA in two oil fields

The roadmap of the Cogo company’s activities was presented on October 3, in Brazzaville, by the new general director of the Congolese subsidiary, Fulbert Dzimbe, to the Minister of Hydrocarbons, Bruno Jean Richard Itoua. The two permits taken over by Cogo have previously been the subject of studies and data collection. The beneficiary company which holds 85% of each of the permits should share exploitation with the Société nationale des Petroles du Congo (15%).

The expected investment is intended, according to the general director, Fulbert Dzimbe, for drilling activities. “ There have been studies that have already been carried out, we will start directly on drilling. Over the three years, we will have a budget of approximately $150 million to make four wells, two from each field. It will be completed according to the results of these wells by 3D seismic and other studies for reinterpretation », indicated this oil executive who came to reassure the supervisory minister of the company’s commitment to fulfilling its part of the contract.

Indeed, the Cogo company is a holding company based in China. It created a subsidiary at the national level, in accordance with the Congo Hydrocarbons Code, to be able to manage the work. Cogo is sure to respond to the authorities’ policy regarding oil production. “ To increase national production, we must be able to increase proven reserves. We want to develop free fields, so that production can increase and the government can have additional room for maneuver and resolve the problems of the Congolese. » assured Fulbert Dzimbe.

This media outing by the manager of the Congolese subsidiary of Cogo comes a month after the meeting in Beijing, China, between Minister Bruno Jean Richard Itoua and the group’s CEO, Li Xue Quan. The two men took stock of the evolution of oil and gas projects in Congo.

One point that attracts attention is that of the Conkouati oil permit, located near the Conkouati-Douli National Park. The authorities have promised to ensure that the execution of oil projects does not affect the sphere of this important protected area of the country with its numerous lowland gorillas.
