here are the features and models concerned

Renault has just announced native integration of the Canal+ application into its cars equipped with the OpenR Link system. The new R5 E-Tech will be able to benefit from this, just like the Scénic E-Tech.

We knew Netflix in cars, or even Twitch and TikTok, now Canal+ is also coming on board.

The Canal+ group and Renault announce a partnership to integrate the encrypted channel application into connected vehicles equipped with OpenR Link technology in , Switzerland and Poland.

To stop being bored at charging stations

From October 4, 2024, the app will be available for download in these countries. It will also be pre-installed on compatible Renault vehicles, that is to say generally all the electric models of the brandstarting with the new Renault 5 E-Tech, or the Scénic E-Tech. The new Captur, Symbioz and Rafale are also affected.

This will allow Canal+ subscribers to access a vast selection of content, including more than 300 new films per year, series, documentaries, live sport such as the English Premier League football or even all European competitions, such as the Champions League. Formula 1 and rugby are also offered.

Subscribers will be able to enjoy all the app’s features directly from their car, including Expert Mode, designed to provide an immersive experience during sports broadcasts. So you don’t get bored when recharging one of the brand’s electric vehicles.

A cutting-edge infotainment system

This service is already in addition to those offered by Renault in a more global manner via its infotainment system. Remember that the manufacturer has entered into a partnership with Google for the development of their operating system. Renault and Volvo are the main manufacturers to benefit from it todaybut Honda, Ford, Cadillac and even Chevrolet will also gradually delegate the infotainment part to Google.

Based on Android, the Android Automotive infotainment system is close to that of a smartphone. The home page is a little different from the cars we are used to handling, with several tabs, a portal for applications, and even a notifications pane, for updates in particular.

Tested several times within the brand’s new products, this operating system is one of the best on the market currently.

There is also access to the Google Play Store to download applications. The catalog is growing regularly, now with applications made especially for the car, such as games to pass the time or even applications that we are used to finding on smartphones.

So, it is possible to download Waze and integrate it directly into your operating systemwithout needing to connect your smartphone with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This is also the case for the Canal+ application, with the only difference that it will also be available with the basic OpenR Link system.
