It’s time to stock up on the chicken (it’s cheap!)

In order to help our readers cope with, among other things, the repercussions of rising food prices, our new collaborator Myriam Gendron, creator of the site Simply eatoffers a low-cost menu every week based on the best grocery discounts of the week.

Week of October 3 to 9

Who says autumn, says squash and pumpkin season (it’s time to enjoy them)! They are really interesting and versatile vegetables, and can often be prepared in both savory and sweet recipes.

A great way to get the most out of them is to cook their seeds. To do this, they must be thoroughly cleaned and dried. Then, you can season them to taste with a touch of oil and simply place them in the oven at 350°F on a baking sheet, turning them halfway through cooking. About twenty minutes for pumpkin seeds and a little less for squash seeds, which are smaller. In any case, when they are golden brown, it’s ready!

Happy eating!

Chicken in all its forms is very cheap almost everywhere.

If you’re planning to celebrate Thanksgiving and have room in the freezer, turkey is worth it at Walmart (it’s not the lowest price of the year, but close). Nothing guarantees a discount the coming week… and there still has to be some left (when everyone buys the same thing, sometimes the shelves are empty).
