agreement for 2.5 MW solar power plant in agricultural facility

(Ecofin Agency) – For almost ten years, Infinity has been at the forefront of the transition in Egypt, thanks to well-developed and commercially viable solutions that provide efficient and sustainable access to energy resources for several sectors.

Egyptian renewable energy solutions provider Infinity announced on September 30 that it had signed an agreement with the company JK for Agricultural Investment for the supply and installation of solar power plants. These must ensure the operation of irrigation pumps in particular with a total capacity of 2.5 MW and investments amounting to EGP 34 million (approximately $700,000).

The project will be implemented on a farm located in the Bahariya Oasis, Giza Governorate, and is part of Infinity’s ongoing efforts to support the use of sustainable energy in Egypt’s agricultural sector.

The solar stations will operate on a hybrid system, combining solar power with diesel generators, reducing diesel consumption by 35% and carbon emissions by more than 2,180 tonnes per year.

Solar energy plays an increasingly important role in irrigation, lighting and powering agricultural facilities in remote and off-grid regions, where access to the electricity grid is limited or non-existent.
