« We want customers to feel at home. Nothing is standardized here. Our mismatched furniture, starting with the chairs that are all different, helps create this friendly atmosphere » says Amélie. This friendly side is also found in the homemade pastries offered, each more tempting than the last.
Amélie and Lisa left their jobs last spring to carry out this project. It must be said that they were already immersed in the culinary world: Amélie was responsible for the offer and Lisa in charge of purchasing within a meal delivery company. “ Obviously, it’s a big leap into the unknown and quite a challenge, but we are delighted with the result », confides Amélie.
Brewery tea room
The work began in June and continued this summer to allow a preview opening on September 22 during the Roncq clearance sale. “ We opened at 8 a.m. and our first customer arrived at 8:05 a.m.! We did a lot of takeaway coffees and breakfasts, and our special clearance sale menu was a great success. », says Amélie. “ We had a very warm welcome and a lot of encouragement. People are excited to now have a cafe open all day » adds Lisa with a broad smile.
Café Mazette offers a lunchtime catering offering with a menu that changes every week and consists of two starters, three main courses and two desserts. The products come from local producers whenever possible. “ We try to do as much local as possible », emphasizes Lisa. For lovers of sweets, homemade pastries can be enjoyed throughout the afternoon over tea.
Amélie and Lisa have no shortage of ideas to liven up the café. Among the upcoming projects: creative and culinary workshops as well as brunches which will expand their offering.
