(Multimedia) Alibaba’s Taobao platform introduces Tencent’s WeChat Pay, set to integrate JD Logistics – Xinhua

BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) — Since Friday, purchases on Alibaba’s Taobao platform can be paid by Tencent’s WeChat Pay, according to an official statement from Taobao.

This new payment method allows users to pay for purchases with WeChat Pay, and subsequent updates will allow users to access transaction history and invoices directly in the WeChat app, WeChat Pay said.

In addition, Taobao and Tmall are preparing to officially integrate JD Logistics, and this service will be available in mid-October. Once this is done, Taobao and Tmall sellers will then have the option to choose JD Logistics for their shipments.

JD.com will also introduce services from the Cainiao delivery network, including Cainiao Express and Cainiao Post, which offers parcel collection points.

The collaboration indicates that Chinese tech giants are working toward more efficient resource integration and better user experience, said Liang Qiang, dean of the School of Business at Shantou University.

This partnership is also part of China’s macroeconomic policies aimed at advancing digital infrastructure and facilitating the dual circulation of the domestic and international markets, while strengthening the competitiveness of e-platforms. country’s trade in the global supply chain, Liang added.
