Another rival is interested in Intel, in great difficulty

Intel suffers, its activity is losing momentum and the stock market price is in the socks! An opportunity for competitors who revolve around what has been the largest semiconductor manufacturer in the world for a long time. After Qualcomm, it was Arm who attempted an approach.

The current difficulties ofIntel stiffen the appetite of the rivals. Qualcomm would thus have proposed an outright acquisition of the entire company, without knowing whether the offer interests Intel management. Such a rapprochement would probably imply the sale of several Intel activities to competitors to satisfy regulators.

Intel wins, rivals salivate

Another pretender would have struck the giant’s door (or the ex-man?) Semiconductors: Arm. La société britannique s’intéresserait plus particulièrement à l’activité chargée de la vente de puces pour PC et serveurs. La deuxième division du groupe, la fonderie qui s’occupe de la production des puces, n’est pas dans la ligne de mire d’Arm.

The rumor spread by Bloomberg has obviously not been confirmed by either party involved, but it is hard to imagine Intel selling its commercial activity as the company seeks to automate its production lines in order to attract customers and investors. Intel could even go so far as to make it completely independent.

It would be quite ironic to see Arm seizing Intel, even if it is only a part. After all, the company’s current problems are largely due to the advent of ARM-based chips in smartphones, which have now become powerful and efficient enough to run traditional computers and servers.

Intel announced the abolition of 15,000 jobs and the postponement of the construction of factories in Germany and Poland.
