A historic national strike next October at Stellantis!

A call for a national strike next month has been issued by Stellantis unions in Italy.

Things are heating up between Stellantis and its employees, whose main unions in the automobile sector called on Tuesday the employees of the automobile group in Italy to observe a national strike on October 18. It is to protest against the fall in production and the “disengagement” of the manufacturer, that a “historic strike, such as has not been seen for more than forty years“This is what is being prepared at Stellantis Italy,” promised Rocco Palombella, general secretary of the Uilm union.

In a press release, the Secretary General justifies the national strike in all the automobile group’s factories on the other side of the Alps planned for next month: “Faced with the dramatic situation experienced by Stellantis workers and the entire automotive industry for some time now,” denouncing in particular “production which has reached a historic low” (production of the electric Fiat 500 even had to be stopped for a month last September in Turin), “periods of record technical unemployment”the “disengagement of Stellantis” and a “total political confusion at national and European level”.
