Four flight attendants suffer from nausea and “coordination problems” due to a mysterious smell on the plane, the flight is urgently diverted shortly after takeoff

The plane had to make an emergency landing 90 minutes after takeoff.

An Alaska Airlines flight, departing from Lihue (Hawaii) to Seattle (Washington) was diverted last Thursday, shortly after takeoff, due to the health condition of four personnel. It was urgently rerouted to Honolulu to Hawaii, about 90 minutes after its departure, the American company confirmed to the British daily The Independent.

According to the media outlet reporting on Hawaiian tourism site Beatofhawaii, the hostesses began to feel nauseated, as well as “coordination problems” due to an unfamiliar smell on the plane. The company stressed that the plane landed “safely” and that the four stewardesses, aged 28 to 59were treated by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services upon landing and were taken to hospital. They were assessed as being in “stable condition.”

None of the pilots or the 119 passengers on board required medical attention, the statement also said. Alaska Airlinesadding that the passengers had to be reassigned to other flights. The plane was flown back to Washington without passengers for inspection.

Last June, two flight attendants were in serious condition after reports of an unfamiliar odor in the back of a plane from the same company, Hawaii News Now reported. The plane did not take off.
