Pending the new government, Darmanin postpones his political return to the end of September

Gérald Darmanin, the resigning Minister of the Interior and Overseas Territories, has decided to postpone his political return, initially planned for Sunday in Tourcoing (North) to the end of September, his entourage indicated on Tuesday.

“Elementary republican elegance requires allowing the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister to work on the composition of a government and not to interfere with this particular political moment,” his entourage specified.

The latter also mentions the parade of athletes from the Olympic and Paralympic Games which is to take place on Saturday in Paris and “will mobilize all the police forces and the Ministry of the Interior until Sunday morning.”

For the second edition of his return, Gérald Darmanin has chosen the theme of “the social question”.

According to his entourage, 900 people are registered, 150 elected officials and 90 parliamentarians have confirmed their presence. Among the personalities announced, Christian Estrosi (Horizons), the president of the UDI and senator Hervé Marseille, the resigning Minister of Culture Rachida Dati (LR) and the former Prime Minister and deputy attached to the Renaissance group Elisabeth Borne.
