Boeing’s very large carrier has failed

En high-end, Boeing has chosen to modernize the 777 twin-engine jet (and replace the B747 quad-engine jet) by upgrading the current aircraft renamed 777X, available in two versions: B777-8 (350-375 seats) and B777-9 (400-425 seats). The American aircraft manufacturer preferred to update an existing aircraft, as it already did for the 737 (Classic, NG then MAX). Otherwise, the design office could have started from a “blank page”, as was the case for the 787 Dreamliner or, at Airbus, for the A350.

The B777X, the third generation of the Boeing 777 model, after the 777-200 and 777-300 models, has the same wide fuselage, allowing for economy class with ten seats abreast separated by two aisles (3-4-3). Externally, it is distinguished in particular by the size of its wings, equipped with folding tips, in order to limit its size in airports. With a fully deployed wingspan of 71.8 meters, the new 777X falls into the ICAO aerodrome code F, which designates a limited number of airports in the world.

But with its wings tilted and folded (and a wingspan of 64.8 metres), the type can use taxiways and parking areas designed for the more common E code, like current aircraft (the 777 in service, B787, A350, etc.).
