Cameroon faces Namibia in Garoua, against the backdrop of a renewed conflict between FECAFOOT and the government

The rest of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations was marked by controversies concerning the venue of the match and the grouping of players. Fécafoot finally obtained the approval of the Cameroonian Prime Minister to organize the match against Namibia on Saturday, September 7 in Garoua. A decision that seemed to bury the hatchet between the Minister of Sports and Samuel Eto’o. But a few hours before kick-off, the conflict persists, still exacerbated by the appointment of Marc Brys as coach of the Indomitable Lions.

This Friday, while the conflict between Marc Brys and Fécafoot seemed to be put on hold, the federation resumed hostilities. By way of bailiff, it sent a summons to the Belgian coach to hand over the players’ passports to the coordinators appointed by Samuel Eto’o.

At a press conference before the match, the choice of Garoua for the match against Namibia was discussed. Marc Brys affirmed that the Roumde Adjia stadium met all the necessary conditions for a good match. The only parameter I need is safety and the condition of the terrain. Both of these are good, that’s why we decided to come here ” he said.
