The celestial object was detected as part of the Catalina Sky Survey program funded by NASA, which tracks comets or asteroids whose trajectory coincides with or flirts with that of the Earth. The European Space Agency was able to announce on Wednesday, September 4 in the morning that the asteroid would burn up in our atmosphere during the night.
