ROBBERY AT THE RIU BAOBAB HOTEL: SIX SUSPECTED CRIMINALS ARRESTED

No less than six suspected criminals were arrested following the burglary of the Riu Baobab hotel, located at Pointe de Séréne, last weekend. They had taken more than 12 million CFA francs and valuable objects. The mastermind of the group, a former informer for the Popenguine gendarmerie, who had become a criminal, was neutralized, reports Le Soleil.

Thanks to effective collaboration between the Thiès Research Section, the Nianing gendarmerie brigade and the Saly Portudal research brigade, the investigation was successful. The use of surveillance cameras allowed the police to attack on the morning of Thursday, around 5 a.m. Surprised in their sleep, the criminals, mainly convicts, surrendered without resistance.

Although some members of the group tried to hide in Mbour, their arrest was quick. A sixth criminal was captured during a raid on Ngazobil beach.
