Specializing in cloud hosting, the company Boost, a subsidiary of the Geneva-based Ilem group, was the victim of a cyberattack with data theft and a ransom demand.

Ilem announces that its subsidiary Boost was the victim of a cyberattack aimed at compromising its services. Ransomhub hackers claim to have stolen 16GB of data, which they threaten to publish unless a ransom is paid. According to the Geneva IT service provider, 15% of the more than 200 customers of its subsidiary specializing in cloud hosting were directly impacted. The activity of the Ilem group and its other subsidiaries would not, however, be affected, according to the comments of its director Samuel Meynet to the Tribune de Genève.

In its press release, Ilem indicates that the rapid mobilization of its cybersecurity teams made it possible to contain and control the situation, with 70% of systems being operational three days after the attack. “Faced with this event, we took immediate action and strengthened our protection systems as well as our internal processes to prevent future attacks. At the same time, we proactively supported our clients to ensure the continuity of their activities and minimize the impacts on their operations,” explains the IT service provider, who is managing the crisis in close collaboration with the police and the authorities.
