After 14 months of online training using new information and communication technologies, 377 physical education and sports teachers took their exams throughout the national territory. Spread over several pools in the academy inspections, 5 tests including human and social sciences, languages and communication techniques, life and earth science, administrative knowledge and professional training.
With a good network of the national territory, the MEPS are distributed in basins: Thiès brings together the academies of Diourbel and Thiès, Saint-Louis brings together Matam, Louga and Saint-Louis, Tambacounda which polarizes the academy of Kédougou and Tambacounda, Dakar brings together the region and Kaolack which brings together Fatick, Kaolack and Kaffrine.
According to Pape Ousmane Fall, Coordinator of the training piloted by the Cneps (National Center for Physical and Sports Education) of Thiès, this so-called complementary training will have a positive impact on the careers of PE teachers because their status will change and they will be able to also join the body of PCEMG (College Teachers of Middle General Education).
Academically it will raise their levels with positions of responsibility at stake, once the Capcem/Eps diploma has been validated.
And the coordinator said that there was specificity in this training because everything related to APS (Physical and Sports Activities) was completely pruned and they only did the theoretical part on modules numbering 24 distributed in two semesters.
-Note in passing that the other 600 remaining Meps are listening to the Ministry of Education and that of Sports to constitute the second cohort of this training.
As a reminder, this training is an old complaint of PE teachers who, despite the fact that they are assigned to high schools and colleges, do their work normally and correctly without being aligned with any body of Teacher. But the state was able to correct this years-old injustice.
