The bad news is piling up for healthcare workers in Chaudière-Appalaches, around thirty other positions will be abolished. The cuts this time mainly affect front-line mental health workers and the youth program.
It is direct care for the population that will be cut
warns Nathalie Trottier, president of the Alliance of professional and technical personnel in health and social services (APTS) in Chaudière-Appalaches.
Positions of specialized educator, social worker, human relations agent and psychologist are set to disappear. According to Nathalie Trottier, each worker usually takes care of at least ten families.
[Ces intervenants] take care of people leaving the hospital to ensure the social safety net […] and so that these people are not left to their own devices to ensure that they remain stable
explains the president of the union.

-According to her, the cuts on the front line are likely to increase the phenomenon of the revolving door
where the same patients periodically return to the health system due to lack of resources outside hospitals.
It’s the first line, it’s the first safety net for the population that is affected. […] It is clear that in Chaudière-Appalaches there will be a reduction in services in these programs.
Nathalie Trottier denounces double talk on the part of the Legault government which, on the one hand, promises to invest more in mental health and then imposes budgetary restrictions leading to job cuts.
With these new cuts, job losses at CISSS in Chaudière-Appalaches now reach more than 150 health professionals.
The CISSS for the moment, does not want to specify the out of respect
for employees who have not been notified.
As part of this new wave of measures, we have paid particular attention to minimizing the impacts on the services provided to users as much as possible.
would like to clarify the spokesperson, Dominique Lessard, in a written response.
