The 14-year-old teenager arrested on Thursday January 9, 2025 following the traffic accident in Avion (Pas-de-) was presented to an investigating judge on Friday January 10. He was indicted for unintentional injury by a driver. The police custody of his passenger, aged 15, prosecuted for failure to assist a person in danger, was lifted the day before. The child is still in intensive care, his vital prognosis is in jeopardy.

He spent more than thirty hours in police custody. The 14-year-old young man, who was at the wheel of the unlicensed car which hit a stroller on Wednesday January 8 in the middle of the afternoon, was presented to an investigating judge. He was indicted for unintentional injury by a driver. The judge also placed him under probationary judicial educational measure. If the young man has returned home, the education has only just begun.

Wednesday January 8, 2025, he fled after the accident. At 14, the young man driving a car without a Citroën AMI license did not stop after overturning a stroller on a protected crossing. The 8-month-old baby was thrown around ten meters, his mother was injured in the knee.

Arrested, like his passenger, Thursday morning, the two young people allegedly admitted the facts in police custody at the police station. The young girl was released the same day, she is being prosecuted for failure to assist a person in danger.

The driver was questioned on Thursday and Friday, before being presented to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The young person is also being prosecuted for hit and run and failure to assist a person in danger.


The two young people arrested were placed in police custody at the Lens police headquarters (Pas-de-Calais).

The accident occurred a little before 3 p.m. on a pedestrian crossing in Avion (Pas-de-Calais).

The eight-month-old boy, victim of head trauma, is still in extremely serious condition in intensive care.
