It was a very special adventure that Mike Johns experienced. This American had ordered an autonomous taxi to go to the airport in Scottsdale, Arizona. He had to take a plane there to return home to Los Angeles. But he almost missed his flight, reports CBS. Indeed, the driverless taxi from Waymo (a subsidiary of Google) which was taking him to the airport malfunctioned and Mike Johns found himself stuck inside.

This autonomous taxi without driver or steering wheel will circulate in our cities within two years

The man filmed himself in the vehicle, which did not drop him off at the airport entrance but continued driving, making turns in the parking lot. Blocked by his seat belt and unable to stop the taxi, Mike Johns called the brand’s customer service to come to his aid. This proved unnecessary at first, as time was running out and the American had to board a plane. “I put on my seat belt, I can’t get out of the car. Has it been hacked? What’s happening? It looks like I’m in a sci-fi movie” , Johns asks in the video, while he is on the phone with customer service.
