The Ministry of Industry and Trade says 116 foreign suppliers registered, declared and paid taxes through their dedicated electronic portal, bringing in a total amount of 19.774 trillion VND. Direct income from declarations via this portal reached 8.687 trillion VND this year, an increase of 26% compared to the same period last year.
Notable platforms, such as Google, Meta (Facebook), Microsoft, TikTok, Netflix and Apple, are included in this figure.
Also according to a report from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam’s B2C (Business-to-Consumer) e-commerce market grew by 18-20% in the first ten months of 2024.
Nguyen Lam Thanh, representative of TikTok in Vietnam and vice president of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association, believes that e-commerce is part of digital transformation in the retail sector. Every year, the number of orders on e-commerce platforms in Vietnam is huge.

Promote state management

To promote e-commerce, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently issued Official Telegram No. 119 ordering a number of relevant ministries and localities to promote state management in this area. He also asked to evaluate the implementation of the national e-commerce development master plan for the period 2021-2025 and to establish another plan for the period 2026-2030.
