Treat yourself, if you can, to the least discreet Mazda MX-5

The pictures speak for themselves: this Mazda MX-5 RF is one of a kind. Called MX-5 Kabuki Town, its dress is transformed by a painting inspired by pop culture and Japanese tradition. However, it was a Mexican artist, Eric Lopez, who imagined this spectacular decoration, which was then implemented on the vehicle by the Belgian artist Boris Sandron. A unique creation, which required 510 hours of work – suffice to say that the pressure is immense for the future buyer who, in terms of hanging or even a slight scratch on this astonishing painting, will have no room for error .

A painting to derail the Tokyo subway

This fresco, the design of which alone took its creator 300 hours in addition to more than 100 hours to adapt to the curves of the Miata, represents the famous monster Godzilla accompanied by a derailed subway train. Multiple explosions, stars, not to mention many colorful elements complete the Kabuki masks typical of traditional Japanese theater. A painting that has its effect in broad daylight, but also under black light, under which the dragon and the explosions are revealed through fluorescent pigments.

A European tour to raise the stakes

The starting price for this one-of-a-kind Mazda MX-5 is $75,000, the equivalent of €71,542.© DR

The vehicle, equipped with the RF body with a retractable hard roof, is powered by the 2.0 Skyactiv-G engine with a power of 184 hp for a torque value of 205 Nm – power sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.

It is the Belgian Mazda dealership St-Michel, located in the suburbs of Brussels, and the associated preparer Gisèle Racing who initiated the project. The latter will undertake a six-month tour in Europe, the time to raise bids which start at $75,000, the equivalent of €71,542. The buyer will be selected based on the amount paid, of course, but also and above all on the visibility they will offer their car.

Remember that when it comes to personalized MX-5s sold at high prices, Mazda St-Michel and Gisèle Racing are not new to this. We already told you last September about a limited edition of 24 units priced at €52,990.
