The new CFF timetable came into force this Sunday

Commuters, keep your eyes peeled: new week, new times! This Sunday, the new CFF rail timetable came into force, marking a major turning point in the history of the Swiss carrier: it is the biggest overhaul in 20 years.

This should, according to the CFF, strengthen the punctuality of trains and the reliability of connections. In addition to numerous adjustments on CFF lines, this timetable will have a domino effect on the networks of other public transport operators in French-speaking Switzerland. It responds to the imperative of adapting an already saturated system facing ever-increasing demand, and the need to modernize infrastructure.

Travelers to French-speaking Switzerland will discover many advantages. In Renens, the station becomes a central node for the main lines, while between Neuchâtel and Fribourg, the train speed increases to half an hour. The RegioExpress will now stop at all Geneva stations. In Valais, in Chablais or on the Riviera, the train offer is reinforced.

Finally, improved connections between Lausanne, Friborg and Yverdon enrich the regional service. It remains to be seen if the promise will keep, only time will tell if commuters will find what they are looking for.
