The demand for more points of sale exists in areas which have recorded strong population growth. Among them, the Lake Geneva region. This was explained by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives in an interview.

Beyond Sarine, the regions bordering Lake Zurich and those located on the Baden-Wetzikon axis, to the north of the city are also affected. The distributor could also set up stores in the canton of Zug.

By 2030, Mario Irminger wants to increase by 200,000 the number of households for whom Migros is the closest food store. A team of specialists is identifying suitable locations for that.

In the process of refocusing solely on its supermarket activitiesthe distribution juggernaut announced at the end of October the injection of two billion francs over five years into the extension and renovation of its network. The measure aimed at opening 140 new brands and the renovation of 350 others. (sda/ats)
