The CANAC hardware and materials chain will open its 36e branch in Laval at the beginning of 2026, which will also be the largest in the province.
The company’s management made the announcement on Friday in a press release. Preparatory work will begin in February 2025 and the construction of the future 50,000 ft building2 should be completed in early 2026.
“We have been hoping to establish ourselves in Laval for a very long time,” declared the general director of CANAC, Martin Gamache, in a press release. For us, it’s a very big project that is finally coming to fruition.”
According to him, the opening of the store will bring investments of more than $35 million as well as the creation of 200 new jobs.
“This project will have positive benefits for our region by diversifying the commercial offering,” said Christopher Skeete, Minister for the Economy and responsible for the Laval region. I welcome them to our home!”
The mayor of Laval, Stéphane Boyer, also said he was “delighted” by this news.
The company, which will blow out its candles in 2025, will open two new branches in the coming months in Rivière-du-Loup, in Bas-Saint-Laurent, as well as in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, in Montérégie.
