The future Vaudreuil-Soulanges hospital will not welcome its first patient in December 2026 as planned. The Société québécoise des infrastructures (SQI) indicates that the hospital center will be delivered in 2027, which leads to an opening in the summer of 2027 in the best scenario and in the fall of 2028 in the worst.

The CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest indicates that it needs six to nine months to prepare the clinical activities of the hospital, once it has received the keys.
“We really hoped to welcome patients in December 2026 until recently,” says the spokesperson for the health establishment, Jade St-Jean.
The CISSS wanted to open Pavilion A of the hospital – intended for outpatient services, therefore not requiring hospitalization – before the work was fully delivered. However, this would have “increased the budget allocated to the project substantially,” indicates Jade St-Jean.
Furthermore, according to the latest analyses, block A is too dependent on the services of pavilion B which will be completed later.
“We recently came to the conclusion that this was not realistic and that it did not allow us to open in optimal conditions,” concludes Jade St-Jean.

The “planned full commissioning” of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges hospital was to take place in November 2026, according to the online dashboard of the Treasury Board Secretariat.
The SQI is now talking about delivery from the hospital in 2027. But what month exactly? “The update of the information available regarding the schedule is in the process of being modified,” we respond.
The SQI explains the “lag” in the schedule by various elements “such as delays attributable to the phases of calls for tenders in a context of pandemic which has caused an overheating of the market and a shortage of labor” .
According to the SQI, the construction of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges hospital is “progressing at a sustained pace” while “respecting the budget”.
During the visit to the site of the future hospital in June, the CISSS was delighted that the $2.6 billion project did not experience any delays or cost overruns.
The new hospital center, located in Vaudreuil-Dorion, will have 404 beds. Ultimately, more than 3,800 employees will work there.
