The Canada Post strike, in which more than 55,000 workers are participating, has lasted 25 days.
The strike was called on November 15 and federal mediation was suspended almost two weeks ago due to the lack of consensus between the two parties.
In a statement Friday, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers said it was reviewing Canada Post’s proposal and wondering when mediation will resume.
The union also said it was committed to returning to the negotiating table.
Canada Post, for its part, is awaiting the union’s response to the proposal made on Friday.
Meanwhile, calls for government intervention by businesses are growing. So far, the federal government has refused any requests on this subject.

However, Ottawa has intervened in other high-profile labor disputes recently, notably in that of the Ports of Vancouver and Montreal, by using a controversial article of law to get the industrial tribunal to order compulsory arbitration.
