The strike at Canada Post, which affects more than 55,000 workers, has been underway for 25 days.

In a press release released Sunday, Canada Post said it was still waiting for an official response from the Postal Workers Union to the proposals sent Friday through the mediator.

Last Friday, the union indicated that it was examining Canada Post’s proposals and wondered when the mediation process would officially resume.

The union assured that it was determined to return to the negotiating table.

The strike began on November 14 and federal mediation was suspended almost two weeks ago due to the parties’ estrangement.

Calls for government intervention have increased from the business community, but until now the federal government has maintained that it will not intervene.

The federal government has recently intervened in other high-profile labor disputes, including at ports, by using a controversial legal section to force the labor board to order binding arbitration.
