The “slow Ouigos” are arriving in the Belgian capital. On the program, prices reduced to €10, but journeys twice as long.
Reaching Brussels by train at a lower cost will soon be possible. As SNCF and its Belgian counterpart, SNCB, have announced, Ouigo trains will soon connect Paris to the Belgian capital. From December 19, three daily return trips will be offered between Gare du Nord and Brussels Midi. “Paris trains leave at 8:18 a.m., 12:28 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., with respective arrivals at 11:21 a.m., 3:21 p.m. and 10:21 p.m. In the other direction, departures from Brussels are scheduled every day at 7:38 a.m., 1:38 p.m. and 6:38 p.m. for an arrival in Paris-Nord at 10:36 a.m., 4:44 p.m. and 9:35 p.m.specifies the SNCF press release.
In terms of prices, they will range from €10 to €59 for a one-way ticket. For children, the ticket will be offered at a fixed price: €8, whatever the time of year. Tickets can be booked six months in advance.
Cheap but slow
On the websites of SNCF, OuiGo, but also TrainLine or TicTactrip, it is already possible to reserve your ticket until March 31, 2025 for what will be the first international connection in the Ouigo Classic Train (or OuiGo slow) offer. ). Slow ? Allow three hours for this journey, compared to less than 1h30 by Eurostar for example. Before Brussels, the train will stop at Creil (Oise), Aulnoye-Aimeries (North) and Mons (Belgium).
The result is not only savings but also a lighter carbon slate compared to that of a motorist, for example. According to Olivier Piron, director of international partnerships at SNCB, “the carbon footprint of a traveler on board one of our new trains between Brussels and Paris will in fact be 7 times less significant than a traveler making the same journey by road.” After checking, it’s more like 3 times in an electric car.
Besides Brussels, slow Ouigos already serve Nantes, Lyon or Rennes. 3.5 million travelers have already used them since their launch in 2022.
