IKEA arrives in Sherbrooke… with little fanfare

The news of the arrival of an IKEA brand in Sherbrooke was first announced by Noovo info on Tuesday, before being confirmed by the IKEA Canada media relations team at The Tribune.

The first planning and ordering center in Estrie should open next spring, confirms Eve-Catherine Métras, marketing and communications director, without being able to indicate a date.

It will be located at 1305, boulevard du Plateau-Saint-Joseph. This is the premises which was occupied by Dépôt Tapis Savana, until very recently, and previously by the TD Bank, very close to Michaels.

There, customers will be able to get help designing for kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as a selection of relevant IKEA items to touch and try, she says.

No pellets, no collection

However, there will be no products or food available for purchase on site, it is specified. The location will also not serve as a pickup center.

To bring their orders to Sherbrooke, customers will therefore always have to turn to home delivery or to the collection point on Industriel Boulevard, paying additional costs.

“This approach is part of IKEA Canada’s expansion plan to be more accessible to as many people as possible and to continually get closer to its customers,” explains Ms. Métras.
