There is great dismay among MicronMax employees in Dieuze, in Moselle. They fought to save their business, in vain. Despite a buyer, the Lyon commercial court recorded its liquidation on Thursday November 28, 2024.
For employees, the disappointment is profound. “It’s a real industrial waste, we will have fought to the end. I take it as a personal failure after so much effort”declares Abdrahim Benkada, FO union delegate.
The employees were placed in receivership twice, they suffered three months of partial unemployment, but they hoped for a serious buyer to save their jobs in the precision aluminum foundry and the manufacturing of bearings for the pump industry hydraulics.
I am angry because it was a profitable company, an industrial flagship, with real know-how
Jérôme Lang, mayor of Dieuze
The 57 jobs that are disappearing will have a significant impact on families and social life in this rural area. The mayor of Dieuze is not angry.
“I am angry because it was a profitable company, an industrial flagship, with real know-how, unique in Europe and we organized its looting by unscrupulous people who were known for their practices”is indignant Jérôme Lang, mayor (SE) of Dieuze. “The mayors, we bear the damage. Families there who no longer have a job, that means less funding for the municipality, fewer children in classes, and less purchasing power. They were well-paid jobs, now we have to reform ourselves with nothing”concludes the mayor.
Termination letters should be sent before Christmas. A meeting is organized on Monday with the liquidator, confirms the mayor.
