Swisscom is continuing its efforts in the area of “artificial intelligence (AI)”. The former monopolist’s Swiss AI Platform is to provide companies with infrastructure for AI applications. The new platform guarantees data storage and processing in Switzerland, via Swisscom computing centers.

This initiative is part of Swisscom’s strategy to develop “made in Switzerland” AI solutions. The operator thus responds to a growing demand from companies, particularly in the financial and public sectors, for secure AI environments that respect strict Swiss confidentiality standards.

A modular and flexible platform

The Swiss AI Platform stands out for its modular structure, offering maximum flexibility to customers. It offers access to Switzerland’s first NVIDIA SuperPOD system, considerable computing power for processing large volumes of data. Companies can thus choose and combine the necessary components according to their specific needs, according to a press release.

The offer notably includes the “GPU as a Service” for access to the computing infrastructure, the AI Work Hub for data scientists, and soon the GenAI Studio for generative AI. This “all-in-one” approach covers the entire process, from consulting to operations to AI application development.

Concrete applications in development

Swisscom is already testing several use cases on its new platform. In collaboration with Thurgau Cantonal Bank, the operator is developing an internal chatbot and an automated response system to customer requests. Another project aims to automate the transcription of emergency calls, in partnership with specialized organizations.

Urs Lehner, manager at Swisscom, underlines the importance of this initiative: “With the Swiss AI Platform, we are offering a Swiss solution to the country’s economic players. On our national infrastructure, which is both efficient and trustworthy, sensitive data is in good hands.” It also highlights the expertise of Swisscom’s 400 AI and data specialists, forming a “Unique Center of Excellence in Switzerland for AI”.
