Significant train delays are announced this Friday evening at Le Mans station. The SNCF indicates that a personal accident
took place in Yvré l'Evêque, between Le Mans and Paris. The victim died in the accident, firefighters informed.
Since 7:45 p.m., train traffic has been interrupted between Le Mans and Courtalain (Eure-et-Loir). “The current legal proceedings do not yet allow normal traffic to resume.”
Stops removed
The time for traffic to be restored is announced around 10:10 p.m. Around ten TGVs are affected and have been diverted from the LGV to use traditional routes, SNCF reports.
Therefore, several stops are removed. The TER from Paris leaving at 6:05 p.m. has an exceptional terminus at Nogent and will not serve La Ferté-Bernard or Le Mans. Same consequence for the TGV coming from Brussels as well as that from Strasbourg. They will stop as close as possible to Massy. Furthermore, the Le Mans stops will not be provided for TGVs to Le Croisic (8:37 p.m.), Rennes (8:40 p.m.), and Nantes (8:45 p.m. and 9:03 p.m.). Delays are announced on other connections from Paris in the evening.
At 8:20 p.m., SNCF indicated that traffic was still interrupted for the intervention of firefighters and police. Between one hour and two hours of delay can be expected on the TGV Inoui and OuiGo trains.
Travelers who were unable to get off at Le Mans station were transported to Angers, to take another train and be taken back to Le Mans, SNCF further specifies.
At 9:45 p.m., the TGV affected by the accident was still stopped. Travelers waiting on board until the intervention of the emergency services and funeral directors ends.
