Industrial acceleration in El Jadida was at the center of the 1st edition of the Jorf Industrial Meeting (JIM), held Wednesday at the African Academy of industrial training (Mohammed VI Polytechnic University) in El Jadida, in the presence of a host of academics and leading industrial players.

Organized by Mechanical & Metalworking Cluster (MWC) under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the National School of Commerce and Management (ENCG) of El Jadida and Chouaib Doukkali University, the event, placed under the theme “Exploring the potential for industrial acceleration in El Jadida”, offered a broad platform for exchange and reflection on local industrial potential and multiple development prospects.

Speaking on this occasion, the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, stressed the importance of the theme of this meeting which highlights the challenges of industrial acceleration, the economic opportunities offered at the regional level and the necessary support mechanisms.

The minister, who spoke via videoconference, said that this meeting enriches the debate on ways to improve the competitiveness of companies, in collaboration with academic partners, noting that this platform also makes it possible to examine the resources and skills available and their optimal exploitation in the service of the region’s economic growth.

In turn, the president of the MWC cluster mechanics and metal manufacturing, Nadia Meziane, explained, in a statement to MAP, that this meeting, which should be held every year, aims to bring together different professionals and actors from the public sector and scientific research, noting that the event has chosen to focus, during this edition, on the potential for industrial acceleration of El Jadida, with the ambition of making it a major player at the national level.

“This year, we have chosen to explore the potential for industrial acceleration in El Jadida, being convinced that El Jadida has all the potential to play a major role at the national level. The objective of this meeting is to fill the communication gap between the different stakeholders, through a platform that brings together all the actors,” he explained.

For her part, the head of the Division of Technological Platforms and Clusters at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Fatima-Ezzahra Ait Elhabti, recalled the launch by her department of a program to support industrial innovation in 2022, with the aim of supporting innovative research and development projects in industrial sectors, for an annual budget of no less than 300 million dirhams.

Mrs. Ait El Habti also stressed that this meeting, which brought together many players in the field of research, industry and industrial engineering, is the ideal opportunity to promote the major economic assets of the El Jadida industrial zone.

The same story was shared by the general manager of the AYA company, Saad Bennani, who noted that the MedZ Industrial Park in El Jadida offers everything that industrial companies need, explaining that this event allows industrial players to establish relationships with different players in the field.

“These kinds of events constitute a fruitful platform for discussion and exchange, contributing to creating dynamism in favor of the development of Morocco, particularly with regard to the implementation of strategies developed by the government to develop the national industry,” he said.

Ahead of this meeting, several panels and meetings were organized to examine the industrial potential of El Jadida, emphasizing the role of scientific research and innovation in economic development. Among the key themes addressed are opportunities for industrial acceleration, the business climate and growth potential, innovation and technologies, among others.
