Things are not looking good at the moment on the employment front in the North. After ArcelorMittal and Auchan, it is the turn of Castorama to announce the implementation of a voluntary departure system at the Templemars headquarters (North). The procedure could impact up to 100 employees as part of a collective contractual termination, reports France 3 Nord.
Even if the union delegates had felt the tide turning, it was through a press release that the brand of the British group Kingfisher announced the bad news on Thursday. The company, which has implemented a “strategic plan” since March 2024 to “reconnect” with profitability and competitiveness, wishes to “adapt the workforce at Templemars headquarters to its new strategic priorities”.
Concretely, one in seven jobs is affected on the Templemars site. But this should not have an impact on any store, even if for a year now the situation has already become tense. In one year, the workforce has been reduced from 12,000 to 11,000 people, with employees who are not replaced… and consequently, the unions point out, this degrades the working conditions of those who remain.
