Many rumors have circulated in recent days around the ecological bonus in 2025. The government has just made things clear: if the reduction in the bonus for electric cars is confirmed, that for utility vehicles and social leasing are indeed well repeated… in a slightly different form. Here's what to expect.
The ecological bonus is one of the most important levers to support sales of electric cars in France. Many rumors indicated a reduction in this program, to which the government has just responded.
In a press conference at which Frandroid participated, the offices of the ministers responsible for Transport, Energy and Industry announced the broad outlines of the aid: bonuses, but also leasing and conversion bonuses.
A reduced ecological bonus
Let's start with a confirmation: the ecological bonus, although maintained, will be less generous. The rumors were correct, with three levels (compared to two currently):
- The first five deciles (up to 16,300 euros of income per share) go from 7,000 to 4 000 euros ;
- The 6th to 8th deciles (between 16,300 and 24,200 euros) go from 4,000 to 3 000 euros ;
- The 9th and 10th deciles will benefit from aid 2 000 euros.
Storing solar energy has never been easier
No need to be an electrician to collect and store solar energy. Zendure's Hyper 2000 is a Plug & Play solution that is very easy to install at home… and capable of generating up to 600 euros of electricity per year!
Other bad news confirmed: the implementation of this new aid will take place the day after the publication of the decree, i.e. within the “all next few days”. Electric cars ordered before the fateful date must finally be delivered to customers before “mid-February 2025” to benefit from the 2024 conditions.
Less generous social leasing
Same story for social leasing, which was a huge success in 2024: it will indeed be resumed in 2025, but under different conditions.
The first is that it will only see the light of day second semestre 2025. Another big novelty: the financing will not be done by the State, but by energy savings certificates powered by energy suppliers.
The government promises “no difference for the buyer”but remains silent on the leasing terms, which have not yet been finalized. A simple warning: “the amount of participation per vehicle will probably decrease”while retaining “a target of 100 euros per month” ; in other words, we will have to forget the Renault Twingo at 40 euros per month and the other Citroën ë-C3 at 54 euros per month.
An ecological bonus for utility vehicles maintained
On the other hand, the rumors were (partially) wrong about the removal of the 2025 ecological bonus for light commercial vehicles.
If the latter will be well and truly taken back in 2025, it will follow the example of social leasing by no longer being financed directly by the State, but by energy saving certificates. Good news for companies, encouraged to green their vehicle fleet.
On the other hand, and as Bercy had already confirmed, the conversion bonus will be completely deleted.
