“A low-cost airline, it offers a low-cost service”: Nice-Orly with Transavia in 2026, the fear of Riviera bosses

“Whatever he says, I won't believe him anyway, whispers an entrepreneur before the speech of the CEO of Transavia, Olivier Mazzucchelli, invited by the Côte d'Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A low cost company offers a low cost service. Period.”

Business leaders are not happy since Air announced that it would no longer operate the Nice- line from the summer of 2026, a connection that it leaves to its subsidiary Transavia.

Nice concerns because Nice-Paris represents 2.5 to 3 million annual passengers, out of the 14.6 million in total (2024 figures) and two thirds go to Orly.

No program yet

At the call of the City of Nice and the CCI Nice Côte d'Azur, Olivier Mazzucchelli came to respond to these concerns on the Riviera this Monday. He had one hour to convince the bosses who had come in large numbers. They had previously responded to an investigation launched by the consular chamber. And 75% say that stopping the Nice-Orly shuttle will impact their productivity.

“We will only establish the shuttle schedule in the first quarter of 2025, indicates straight away the CEO of Transavia. What is certain is that we will not offer 14 per day like Air France. The increase in teleworking and CSR objectives (corporate social responsibility, editor’s note) companies have changed the game when it comes to travel. We will have to adapt the offer, taking into account profitability.”

Bosses want flexibility, flight frequencies, quality assistance service, benefits, etc. Olivier Mazzucchelli to defend his product “We will do everything to meet your expectations. To be better than Easyjet and at least equal to Air France. We are expecting new Airbus 320Neo, more spacious, quieter, emitting less CO.”

Without commenting on future prices, there is talk of a “differential of 30 to 40%”. Note that Transavia ranks 2nd among the best European low-cost airlines. Skeptical faces of our entrepreneurs who give up: “We’re waiting to see, but we don’t believe in Santa Claus.”
