After an increase in bank fees in 2024, the main French banks have announced an increase in prices on services and bank cards for 2025, reported Le Journal du Net.
Like every new year, the prices of products or services change, and banking rates are no exception. In 2025, customers of several banks will see their fees increase, according to an analysis by Le Journal du Net, which examined the prices of services offered by BNP Paribas, La Banque Postale and CIC.
At BNP Paribas, the services which will see their prices increase are: transfers made over the counter (+50 cents, or 14.29% increase) and the cost of bank cards. At La Banque Postale, it is the account maintenance fees which will increase (+ 11.76%), but also – and above all – the NPAI return fees which will soar by 166.67%, to 20 euros , indicated Moneyvox.
An increase that continues
At the CIC, the SMS alert package is increasing (+ 6.25%), as are the account maintenance fees (+ 4.76%). Bank cards are also seeing their prices take off. Bundled offers are also on the rise (+6.37% for the overall personal contract). Speaking to BFM Business, the bank explained that its rates for 2025 will increase by 1.3%, less than the inflation of 1.5% forecast by the Banque de France.
These increases in bank rates in 2025 continue those already observed over the 2023/2024 period. According to the 2024 Banking Rates Observatory report, there was a “controlled increase in bank rates”. Of the 14 main services offered by financial institutions, half have seen their prices increase significantly, particularly on account maintenance and payment card prices.
