Instagram will allow you to completely reset the recommendation algorithm. The new algorithm will then consider you as a new user, even if your account has several hundred subscriptions. This reset concerns the “Discover”, “For you” and “Reels” sections.
Meta announced on his blog a new feature that should be of particular interest to those who feel that their Instagram account is being invaded by countless unwanted content. Indeed, Instagram will soon allow its users to completely reset the recommendation algorithm.
So, if you find that Instagram is offering you too much content that doesn’t interest you (or no longer), you just need to reset the algorithm to start from scratch. This reset concerns the “Discover”, “For you” and “Reels” sections.
Once the reset is complete, Instagram will consider you a new user, even if your account has several hundred subscriptions. Subsequently, the algorithm will begin to establish a new user profile based on your different activities on the platform.
Note also that Instagram will provide you with a list of the accounts most present in your news feeds, just before resetting the algorithm. You will be able to easily unsubscribe from accounts that you no longer wish to see so that the new algorithm no longer recommends them to you later.
Finally, note that this functionality is currently being deployed on a global scale. Once it is accessible, simply go to the Instagram settings and access the “Suggested content” section (Content preferences). You will then find the option “Reset suggested content”.
