The change is now. Cdiscount does new skin and changes its historic logo : the “C” in white on an orange background. The subsidiary of the Casino group bought in March 2024 by Daniel Kretinsky will now have as its emblem the name of the company written in handwritten letters on a royal blue background, accompanied by a megaphone, we learn exclusively from Le Parisien, June 22, 2024. Questioned by the Ile-de-France daily, Thomas Métivierthe CEO of the brand, justifies this choice: “This more written spelling reminds us that behind an e-commerce site like Cdiscount, there are real people, that is to say 2,000 employees who work in France.”

The brand director further believes that “this new logo is more popular and the megaphone clearly underlines our interest in remaining alongside the French, particularly in a context of complicated purchasing power”. And justly, Cdiscount decided to target customers who have less means. “Our new identity also involves a promise of purchasing power and more responsible consumption”, insists Thomas Métivier. In this sense, it was decided to indicate when an item is less expensive on the platform than in the competition using a label “the cheapest here!”.

Campaigns against the high cost of living

To complete its transformation, the brand is also counting on its numerous campaigns against the high cost of living with “the crazy things of the week”, the “Discount weekends” or even the “unbeatable”. “We are well aware that our customers need these offers”, insists the business manager. And to insist: “When the fridge runs out at the end of the month, it is essential for our customers, whose average basket is more than 100 euros, to have access to these solutions.”

Nothing is too good for Cdiscount new version. Thus, the marketplace also intends compete with American and Chinese platforms e-commerce companies, such as Amazon, Alibaba and Temu. “We are convinced that a European model is needed to guarantee our digital sovereignty, maintain our fiscal commitment, offer quality and responsible logistics”assures Thomas Métivier, who wants to highlight products made in France sold on the marketplace.
