(Alliance News) – Italy has allocated more than 600 million euros to the first projects of the Mattei Plan, according to the report sent to Parliament after six months of activity of the mission structure.
As Corriere della Sera reported on Monday, among the main interventions, the contribution of 320 million dollars, or around 300 million euros, for phase 2 of the “Corridor de Lobito”, a railway infrastructure that will connect the Angola to the mining region of Zambia, stands out.
Among the 22 projects included in the plan, one of the largest is Kenya, which aims to boost the production of vegetable oil for advanced biofuels.
Carried out by Eni Kenya, a subsidiary of Eni Spa, in cooperation with the local Ministry of Agriculture, the project is supported by 71 million euros from the Italian Climate Fund, supplemented by 128 million euros from the World Bank , for a total of around 200 million euros.
In addition, there are already plans to extend the Mattei plan to other African countries, such as Ghana, from 2025.
